Brent Whitfield is a highly accomplished soccer coach and athletic trainer with a distinguished career spanning both professional and collegiate levels. With a background that spans professional playing fields to elite coaching environments, Brent’s commitment to soccer and passion for athlete development has made him a respected leader in the sport.

Brent Whitfield’s journey in soccer began with a successful professional playing career. He made his mark in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Chivas USA during the 2006 season. He continued to contribute to the league with Chivas USA/Los Angeles Galaxy Reserves from 2007 to 2009. His playing career also included a stint with the Seattle Sounders in the USL First Division in 2005. These experiences provided him with a deep understanding of the game, which he later translated into a successful coaching career.

Following his playing days, Brent Whitfield transitioned into coaching, where he quickly established himself as a prominent figure in both high school and college soccer. At Cerritos College, where he served as the Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer Program from 2013 to 2019, Brent demonstrated his exceptional ability to develop players and lead the team to impressive success. Under his guidance, the team won five California Community College Athletic Association State Championships, and Brent’s efforts in scouting and recruiting consistently brought top talent to the program. His tenure at Cerritos College is marked by an outstanding overall record of 151-9-9 and numerous All-American players.

Brent Whitfield’s coaching expertise extends beyond Cerritos College. He has also made significant contributions at Pomona Catholic High School, where he served as the Girls Varsity Head Coach, leading the team to a second-place finish in the league during the challenging COVID-19 season. His role as the Boys Varsity Assistant Coach at St. Anthony’s High School further highlights his versatility and effectiveness in coaching various age groups and competitive levels.

In addition to his high school and college coaching roles, Brent Whitfield has been deeply involved in youth soccer. From 2016 to 2018, he was the Director of the Girls Youth Program at Anaheim Surf, where he played a crucial role in overseeing and developing young talent. His dedication to player development is evident in his work with the US Training Center and the Youth National Team Scouting Network, where he identified and nurtured players with potential for national representation.

Brent Whitfield’s contributions to soccer extend to his work with the Cal South Olympic Development Program, where he helped identify and recruit talented players for both the Girls and Boys programs. His coaching acumen was also recognized in his role as the Head Coach for the LA Legends in the United Soccer League (USL) in 2009.

A California State University Fullerton graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, specializing in Sport & Exercise Psychology, Brent Whitfield holds a United States Soccer Federation National “B” License. His educational background, combined with his practical experience, has shaped his coaching philosophy and approach.
